Raining Gold and Silver in NHPEO 2023

Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta sent representatives to compete in the Debate, Writing, Public Speaking, and Storytelling competitions, as well as finalists in the Vlog, Poster and 3-Minute Research competitions in NHPEO 2023, held in Surabaya.

NHPEO, or National Health Polytechnic English Olympics, is an English competition that brings together the best representatives of 38 Poltekkes Kemenkes throughout Indonesia. On the first day of the event, there were Preliminary Rounds to determine the ranking of the participants. Participants with the highest rankings are categorized into the “Master Category”, while participants with lower rankings are called “Novice Category.”

The Preliminary Round of the Debate competition took place in three rounds, which at the end of the first day, the Polkesyo Debate Team (Aida Saskia Dwi Handayani & Putu Ayu Nilam Pratiwi) succeeded in entering the Quarter Final round to continue the competition in the following day. Meanwhile, the representatives in Writing Competition (Arum Hasna Aghayu), Public Speaking (Tiara Cahyadien Syifa Hernowo), and Storytelling (Az Zahra Nur Ainiyyah), experienced two Preliminary Rounds on the first day. Poster contest finalists (Wulan Nurrohmah & Rossa Ananda Putri) also presented their work on the first day. However, the presentation for the Vlog finalists (Muhammad Haris Az Zahidy, Larasati Puspaningrum & Niada Azizah) which was supposed to take place was suddenly cancelled.

The announcement at the end of the first day confirmed that Polkesyo representatives in the Writing, Public Speaking and Storytelling competitions all made it into the Master Category. Thus, the three participants alongside the Debate team continued the competition on the second day.

On the second day, the representatives for Debate succeeded in advancing to the Semifinals and then to the Grand Final, which would bring together the teams from Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta, Jakarta III, Kupang, and Makassar. Meanwhile, the representatives for the Writing, Public Speaking and Storytelling competitions showed their best performance in the Master Category. At the end of the second day, the Grand Final Debate was held at the Bright Ballroom of Harris Hotel, available for all NHPEO participants to see.

The 2023 NHPEO awarding and closing ceremony concluded that Polkesyo representatives won the following awards:

  • Champion of Debate Competition: Aida Saskia Dwi Handayani (Applied Bachelor of Midwifery) & Putu Ayu Nilam Pratiwi (Diploma III of Medical Laboratory Technology)
  • 2nd Place of 3-Minute Research: Almira Sitasari, MPH (Lecturer in Dietetic Professional Education)
  • Gold Medal in Poster Competition: Wulan Nurrohmah (Applied Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology) & Rossa Ananda Putri (Applied Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology)
  • Silver Medal in Writing Competition: Arum Hasna Aghayu (Applied Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology)
  • Silver Medal in Public Speaking Competition: Tiara Cahyadien Syifa Hernowo (Applied Bachelor of Nursing + Nurse Profession)
  • Silver Medal in Storytelling Competition: Az Zahra Nur Ainiyyah (Applied Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics)
  • Silver Medal in Vlog Competition: Muhammad Haris Az Zahidy (Applied Bachelor of  Anesthesiology Nursing), Larasati Puspaningrum (Applied Bachelor of Dental Therapy) & Niada Azizah (Applied Bachelor of Dental Therapy)

Thus, in the end, Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta was ranked II in the general classification.
